The most common question we get from people who see Seven is : Why is he so good-looking like his father?
Kidding. They almost always ask why we named him "Seven". So for those still asking, and for those who weren't satisfied with our previous explanation, this one's for you. For starters, we thought our first child would be a girl because Anie still looked gorgeous during her pregnancy (a myth, really.) So we penciled in "Laia" for a girl's name. But when it was confirmed that the baby was a boy, we thought maybe Liam was a good choice. However, there was a part of me that wasn't satisfied with the name. I wanted a name that I truly loved, something unique. Then I thought of "Seven", and it took me a while to tell Anie, but when she heard about it, she quickly agreed. (Friends, we're reserving the name Laia for our baby girl. Dibs! We thought it first, okay? No copying. Haha.) =)
So, why Seven?
(Genesis 1 & 2)
- 7 years of abundance and 7 years of famine in the Pharaoh's dream (Genesis 41)
- "Impenetrable" city of Jericho's walls to fall on the 7th day after 7 priests with 7 trumpets
march around the city 7 times (Joshua 6)
- The miracle of 7 loaves of bread multiplied into 7 baskets full of surplus (Matthew 15)
- Jesus telling Peter to forgive those who sinned against him not just 7 times, but 77 times.
- The 7 last words of Jesus on the cross.
I could go on and on with how 7 is uncannily associated with certain things. Maybe just pure coincidence, but don't ask me what took God 7 days to create everything, and why He liked to mention 7 too much. =)
What can't be dismissed, however, is that we love our Seven. He is our pure joy. He completes us. Just last Sunday, we held his Dedication, with family and friends. It coincided with Anie's birthday. Here are some of the photos from the event:
Photos by Mikko Gatchalian, who himself wore Jordan 7 shoes to the occasion (cooool). The rest of the photos will be uploaded on Facebook, for tagging purposes. =)
That's all I have to share here for now, but before I end, I just found out that David & Victoria Beckham named their kid Harper Seven. "Harper" from Harper's Bazaar, and "Seven" from who knows where it came from. Add George Constanza of "Seinfeld", who liked Seven for a name (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NRUdaWZ4FN0), but not his lady friend and Jerry. Haha.
Till next time! =)
Father to Seven. Prefers to be called "Pop" because Daddy is too sosyal, Papa can mean boyfriend / boy-toy or a ketchup, Tatay is too un-sosyal, and Popsie is just three letters too much. I don't like the cola because it's too sweet, but I esteem coach Gregg Popovich because he gets the job done. So Pop it is.
