If you thought this was about the American cellular phone company, sorry. You may now look away.
But if you 're interested in seeing motocross action, stay. This shouldn't take long.
Photographer friend Caloi Leonardo tipped me about a motocross event in Sta. Maria, Bulacan. I couldn't have been more thankful because I've been wanting to shoot a motocross event for the past few years. It always occurred that I found out about these events too late and I didn't get to go...and shoot. So Two Sundays ago I gave it a go even though I didn't have the luxury of time.
The moto event coincided with the town fiesta of Sta. Maria, so you got the idea that it was well-supported by the local government. It was slated to start at 7AM, which I thought was cool because it would give me roughly an hour to shoot the action before I have to head home to attend our church's 19th founding anniversary. Or so I thought. By the time I left around 8:15AM, all I saw was practice runs by a few riders.
But that's okay. Next time I'll dedicate more time to a motocross event and hope that the organizers stick to the schedule. =)
The photos from the practice run (yep, that's why I'm so disappointed of missing the competition proper) :
And before I left, a big-shot motocross rider arrived. I tried to hold out a few minutes more so I can get a glimpse of what he does, but alas, he was still warming up and getting on his protection pads and I really had to head home for church. Didn't get to see Kenneth San Andres in his dirt glory. He eventually won that day's competition. And guess what his favorite number was. =p
That's all folks! Thanks for looking. Next motocross event I promise I'll stay for the actual competition. Just as long as it's not on a Sunday morning. =)
